"pagan babies"

A Message, on behalf of all queers, to all strict Roman Catholics, oh, and also to all readers of The National Review:

WE ARE NOT PAGAN BABIES

We will not be baptized and become straight, any more than blacks will be painted white or smart people made stupid, all this regardless of your efforts, regardless of your prayers, and the sooner you realize this, the better the world will be for all of us.

I am sorry if I misunderstood you, I thought that were advocating violence against this lady because she chose to express her views, however repugnant they might be to you.

Here is the chance to clear that up, do you think the murder of this lady was justified or excusable just because she did not share the views of the man who killed her?

I am not seeking to baptize you, make you go straight, become Catholic, or subscribe to the National Review. I am only trying to point out the fact that violence, based on race, creed, national origin, sexual orientation (gay or straight) is still wrong. I would feel the same way as if this was a gay person who was killed by a straight person for simply asking "Why do you only sleep with boys/or girls (same sex). BTW I forgot to include the _ in my email address. So you can reply if you want.

That's right. Dump the comments.

It doesn't change the fact that

you're going to Hell.

So is it the fault of the schools that people can't read? I just don't know. It was very interesting to see the weird analogies, poor logic, and nit-picking about what homophobia means.

I especially enjoyed the comments that start out pleasant and reasonable and then say something mean at the end.

The whole incident is tragic of course. I kinda thought that was your point. That and that homophobia kills.

Hang in there.

Jackie

Yes. Thank you doll.

Unreal. Scary. I was confident that the NRO article had taken the quote out of context, but no: What hate and paranoia spews from Jimmy! And it's he who takes quotes ["sick", "garbage," etc.] completely out of context.

I post this with some fear of possible reprisal.

I'm sorry: I should say, from James.

Reprisal? One evidently fucked up homosexual kills someone and now James is a psycho. Welcome to the wayback machine for gay/straight relations, everyone.

In response to Choire:

Reprisal? Well James and Barry seem to be the ones that think it's a fine state of affairs when a gay guy with a wounded psyche murders an admittedly meddlesome woman. Also, James seems to try to reinvent the meaning of his words: i.e. what the murderer and the victim both did was evil, even though it is plain from the context, he was referring only to the victim.

Reading other posts by James leads me to believe that he should say, " I think, therefore I am a smug, self important, jerk". Admitting admiration for an abomination like Ted Rall tells me most of what I need to know about James.

So it really scares me to see the discussion here about homosexuality. Is it really that big a deal? I really don't give a shit if someone is gay or not. My aunt is a lesbian, I grew up with that. Her partner (girlfriend) is (like my aunt) just as normal as the next woman. Normally I can tell if a man is gay or not, simply by the looks. Gay men are usually better dressed, they look sharp, and, are a lot nicer people to talk with then a lot of straight men. Not that straights are antisocial, but when you meet a gay guy on the street, they more easily start a conversation with you.

I think most people that don't like homosexuals, really don't have a clue what these people are like. They do not know what the socalled gay subculture contains. They are simply afraid of something they don't know what it is. They are probably scared of an okapi, though have never saw one in real life, or know wether the animal is a herbi- or carnivore.

I live in the Netherlands. I'm 18 years old, share an apartement with my father since my parents divorced in 11-2000. I have one elder brother, 21, and he has a girlfriend, 18. I myself are heterosexual, but I haven't had a girlfriend for 7 years now. In the city I live in are several gay bars, including I believe 2 socalled leather bars. Sometimes, when I go out with my friends, just for fun we say to stop by there some time. We never do, but it could be a lot of fun. Just like when we say we want to go smoke dope some time. It's just fun, and we don't discuss homosexuality here. It's just a common thing, it's something you cannot change. There probably always have been homosexuals, and they will always be there. You don't discuss trees being in your street or not. Or wether it's day or night. It's obvious and its common.

Ahhh. It's good to get a breath of fresh air from a civilized man in a civilized country.

As good as it might be for you, James, as frightening it is for me to even explain gay/straight relations in the Netherlands

In a meanwhile, I will visit your site, and wait up for reactions...
