Sears-Peyton was also showing some beautiful work at the Red Dot fair by the Texas-born artist Cecil Touchon who now lives in Mexico, where he assembles these collages using cutouts of typographical elements in found street posters and roadside billboard papers which had been used, among other purposes, to advertise local wrestling or other festivals and events.

Very similar work to Seattle artist Robert Yoder http://www.artnet.com/artist/27914/robert-yoder.html who has collaged paper, stickers, and in earlier work, road construction signs.

Stephen, you're absolutely right. Even as I was looking at Touchon's work on Monday I had this vague recollection of having seen something similar to his abstractions on a larger scale, and done in metal.

I probably saw Yoder's work in Portland or Seattle while I was visiting the Northwest in the early nineties.
